We gather what we need

We request your existing payroll records, PAYE reference, and employee details. If you are switching from another bureau or from in-house payroll, we handle the migration and pick up from where your last pay run ended. No disruption to your employees.

We process and file

From the next pay period, we calculate pay, apply deductions, file RTI submissions, and send payslips. CIS deductions and monthly returns are handled in the same process if applicable. You approve the figures before anything is filed.

Once the process is set up, payroll is handled without requiring your input beyond approving each run. Do you handle CIS payroll as well as standard PAYE payroll?+

Yes. CIS payroll — including subcontractor verification, monthly CIS returns to HMRC, and deduction statements — is covered alongside standard PAYE payroll. We work with construction businesses, main contractors, and mixed workforces where some workers are on PAYE and others are paid under the Construction Industry Scheme. You do not need a separate provider for each.

How is payroll priced and what is included?+

Payroll is priced based on your headcount and pay frequency — weekly, fortnightly, or monthly. The quote covers payroll processing, RTI submissions, payslips, auto-enrolment management, and year-end P60 and P45 preparation. P11D reporting for expenses and benefits is included where relevant. CIS payroll is quoted separately or as part of a combined package depending on your setup. You will see the full cost before agreeing to anything.

We currently run payroll in-house or use another bureau — is switching difficult?+

Switching payroll mid-year is straightforward in most cases. We request your existing payroll records, employee details, and PAYE reference, and we pick up from the last completed pay run. There is no gap in processing and your employees see no interruption. If your records are incomplete or there are discrepancies to resolve, we will flag these before we start rather than discover them at year end.

Is there a minimum contract or notice period?+

There is no long-term contract. Payroll services are provided on a rolling monthly basis, and you can give notice at any time. If you decide to move on, we provide your payroll records in a format you can take to another provider. You will not be left without what you need.

Do you manage pension auto-enrolment as part of the payroll service?+

Auto-enrolment management is included as standard. We assess eligible workers each pay period, calculate contributions, and maintain the records The Pensions Regulator requires. If you are approaching your staging date or have not yet enrolled eligible workers, we can also assist with the initial setup and worker communications. Re-enrolment, which is required every three years, is handled as part of the ongoing service.

Can you advise on director payroll and the most tax-efficient salary structure?+

Yes. Director payroll often involves a low salary and dividend combination to reduce overall tax and National Insurance. We can advise on the most efficient salary level given current NI thresholds and income tax bands, process the director payroll accordingly, and align this with your self assessment and corporation tax position. The advice is included — we do not charge separately for the question.
