Sole Trader Accounts
Your sole trader accounts and tax return, done properly.
Most sole traders end up doing their own accounts late, in a hurry, and without much confidence in the figures. We take that off your plate: a qualified accountant prepares your accounts and self assessment return, checks your allowable expenses, and submits to HMRC on time. Fixed fee from £150.
- Self assessment filed accurately, well ahead of the deadline
- Expenses and allowances reviewed so you are not overpaying tax
- Plain-English explanation of what your figures actually mean
- One fixed fee covers your annual accounts and tax return
No long-term contract. If after three months it is not working for you, you leave with clean records and nothing outstanding.

Sound familiar?
Still not sure what your tax bill is going to be?
A lot of sole traders reach January with a rough idea of what they earned and very little idea of what they owe. Allowable expenses get missed. Payments on account come as a surprise. The Self Assessment deadline creeps up and the whole thing becomes something to dread rather than something to manage. None of that is inevitable.
- Unsure which expenses you can actually claim, so you under-claim
- Self Assessment deadline arrives before the accounts are anywhere near ready
- No clear picture of your tax position until it is almost too late to plan
What sorted looks like
Your accounts are prepared properly, your allowable expenses are reviewed in full, and your self assessment is submitted to HMRC well before the deadline. You know your tax bill months in advance, with no last-minute scramble.
- Every allowable expense reviewed so your taxable profit is correct
- Accounts prepared early and submitted ahead of the HMRC deadline
- Your tax position calculated and explained before HMRC sends anything
- A fixed fee from £150, with no hidden extras or surprise charges

What your sole trader accounts service covers
The annual accounts and self assessment return are the core of it. Depending on your situation, VAT and bookkeeping support can be added separately.
Self Assessment Tax Return
Your SA100 and SA302 are prepared by a qualified accountant, with all income sources covered and every applicable relief and allowance claimed. Payments on account are explained clearly so you know what is due and when, not just what you owe for last year. Fixed fee of £150 for the annual return.
Fixed fee: £150Sole Trader Accounts Preparation
We prepare your annual profit and loss account from your records, whichever format they are in, whether that is a spreadsheet, a cloud accounting package, or a folder of bank statements. The figures feed directly into your tax return, so nothing is missed and nothing is calculated twice. Included within the self assessment fee for straightforward businesses.
Included as standardBookkeeping and VAT Support
If you need ongoing bookkeeping, VAT returns, or Making Tax Digital compliance, these are available as separate services quoted on your requirements. We work with Xero, QuickBooks, FreeAgent, and Sage, so you are not tied to a particular platform. A quote is provided upfront with no obligation.

What makes working with us different
There is no shortage of accountants. Here is what actually matters when you are choosing one for your sole trader accounts.
Your expenses reviewed properly
A surprising number of sole traders under-claim because nobody has sat down and gone through what they are actually entitled to. We review your allowable expenses as part of the process, not as an add-on. The result is a taxable profit figure that reflects your actual position, not a conservative guess.
Deadlines tracked, not chased
Your Self Assessment deadline is managed from our side. We let you know what we need and when, so the return is prepared and submitted with time to spare. If a payment on account is due, you will know about it before it arrives, not after.
Numbers explained in plain English
We do not just file the return and move on. We explain what the figures mean: what you made, what you owe, and what to expect next year. Questions get a direct answer from the person who prepared your accounts, not a generic reply.
Up and running in four straightforward steps
Most clients go from first contact to a completed return without a single in-person meeting. Everything is handled online, at a pace that suits you.

Fill in the short form or call us on 020 8089 1876. We will confirm the fee upfront, based on your situation, before any work begins. For a standard sole trader self assessment, the fee is £150.
Share your records
Send us your income and expense information for the year. This can be a bank statement, a spreadsheet, a FreeAgent or Xero export, or a mix of all three. If your records are not perfectly organised, that is fine: we work with what you have.
We prepare and review
Your accounts and self assessment return are prepared by a qualified accountant. We review your expenses, apply all applicable reliefs, and send you a clear summary of the figures for your approval before anything is submitted.
Filed, confirmed, done
Once you approve the figures, we submit to HMRC. You receive confirmation of the filing, your tax liability for the year, and a note of any upcoming payment dates. Your records are in order and there is nothing left to worry about until next year.
“Working with Wings Online Filings Ltd has been an absolute pleasure. They are highly communicative, supportive, and provide a responsive, cost-effective service that perfectly suits my small architecture practice. I switched from another accountant about a year ago and haven’t looked back since.”
Things sole traders usually ask us first
I have income from more than one source. Can you still handle my self assessment?
Yes. Multiple income sources are standard for sole traders: freelance income, employment income, rental income, side businesses, or any combination. Your SA100 is prepared to cover all relevant sources, with each one reported correctly to HMRC. You do not need to separate them out before sending us anything.
What does the £150 self assessment fee actually include?
The £150 covers preparation of your SA100 and SA302, review of your income and allowable expenses, application of any relevant reliefs and allowances, and submission to HMRC. It includes a clear summary of your tax liability and payment dates. If your situation involves unusual complexity, such as capital gains or foreign income, we will confirm a fee before starting. No surprises.
My records are in a bit of a state. Is that a problem?
Not particularly. Most clients do not arrive with perfectly organised books. We work with whatever you have: bank statements, receipts, a rough spreadsheet, or an export from a banking app. If a catch-up is needed before the return can be prepared, we will tell you what is involved and what it costs before any work begins.
Is there a long-term contract or minimum commitment?
No. The self assessment service is a one-off annual fee with no ongoing contract. If you also take monthly bookkeeping or VAT support, those arrangements are flexible and can be adjusted or stopped with reasonable notice. You are not locked in.
Do I need to register for Self Assessment myself, or can you help with that?
If you are not yet registered for Self Assessment with HMRC, we can advise you on the registration process. You will need to set up a Government Gateway account in your own name, as HMRC requires the taxpayer to register directly, but we will walk you through exactly what to do and what information you will need.
Can you tell me how much tax I am likely to owe before you file the return?
Yes. Before anything is submitted to HMRC, we send you a clear breakdown of your taxable profit, the tax and National Insurance due, and any payments on account that will apply. You approve the figures first. There are no last-minute surprises and no tax bills you were not expecting.
