Accountant for Doctors

Accountant for Doctors

Your medical finances, handled properly.

Between NHS sessions, private clinic work, locum shifts, and the occasional letter from HMRC, accounting rarely gets the attention it deserves. We handle self assessment, tax planning, and compliance for doctors across the UK. Qualified accountants, fixed fees from £150, and questions answered the day you ask them.

  • Self assessment filed on time, with all allowable expenses claimed
  • NHS, private, and locum income reconciled clearly — no guesswork
  • Your tax bill known months before the January deadline
  • Pension contributions and allowances reviewed to reduce what you owe

No long-term contract. If it is not working after three months, you leave with clean records and nothing owed.

Sound familiar?

Your clinical workload does not leave much room for tax.

Most doctors we speak to are broadly across their income but genuinely uncertain about what they owe, what they can claim, and whether their self assessment is actually correct. NHS pay, private fees, locum payments, and pension contributions all interact in ways that catch people out. January arrives faster than expected, and the numbers are rarely as tidy as they should be.

  • NHS and private income mixing together, making your tax position unclear
  • Unsure which professional expenses and subscriptions are actually claimable
  • Self assessment filed in a rush, with no certainty the figures are right

What a tidy tax position looks like

We work with doctors, GPs, consultants, and locums to bring all income streams together, claim everything you are entitled to, and make sure there are no surprises when the deadline arrives. The filing is handled; the numbers make sense.

  • All income sources reconciled clearly — NHS, private, and locum in one picture
  • Allowable expenses identified and claimed, including GMC fees, BMA subscriptions, and CPD
  • Self assessment prepared carefully and submitted on time — no January scramble
  • Self assessment fixed at £150 — lower price matched if you find one

What you get

What the fee covers for doctors

Three core services for medical professionals — covering your annual filing, your ongoing tax position, and your compliance obligations.

01

Self Assessment, Done Properly

Your SA100 and SA302 are prepared with all income sources included — NHS, private practice, locum, rental, or investment income. Allowable professional expenses are identified and claimed so the return reflects your actual position, not an approximation of it. Fixed at £150 per year, with nothing hidden.

Fixed fee: £150
02

Tax Planning Before the Deadline

Knowing your tax bill in September is considerably more useful than knowing it in January. We review your income, pension contributions, and available reliefs well ahead of the deadline so you can plan payments on account and avoid surprises. For doctors with annual allowance pension taper concerns, we flag these early.

Included with self assessment
03

Company Accounts for Doctor-Directors

If you operate through a limited company — common for consultants and locums — your annual accounts and CT600 corporation tax return are filed with HMRC and Companies House for a fixed £250. Dividend strategy and director salary structure are considered as part of the filing, not charged separately.

Fixed fee: £250

Why Wings Online Filings

Why doctors choose us over a general practice

Three reasons that come up consistently when clients explain why they switched.

🩺

We already know how doctors are paid

NHS employment income, BMA locum fees, private clinic invoices, and PAYE from a trust — you will not need to explain your income structure before getting a useful answer. We handle these combinations regularly and know which expenses HMRC accepts without dispute. That saves time at the outset and avoids problems later.

💷

Fixed fees, no surprises

Self assessment is £150. Company accounts and corporation tax are £250. Both prices are published, not negotiated after the work is done. If you find a qualified practice charging less, we will match it — that is the commitment, in writing, on every page of this site.

📋

Plain English, not accountant-speak

Your tax return is not just filed — it is explained. You will know what the numbers mean, why the liability is what it is, and what, if anything, can be done about it next year. For doctors who spend their days communicating complex information clearly, that level of transparency is, frankly, the baseline expectation.

Getting started

Up and running in four straightforward steps

Most doctors are set up and have their first question answered within 48 hours. There is no paperwork to post and no office to visit.

1

Get a free quote online

Fill in the short form above — it takes under two minutes. Tell us your situation: employed by an NHS trust, locum, private practice, or a mix. We will send a fixed quote the same day.

2

We review your position

Once you confirm, we take a look at your income sources, prior filings if relevant, and any outstanding HMRC correspondence. If books need tidying before we can proceed, we tell you what that involves and what it costs — no hidden catch-up fees appearing later.

3

We handle the filing

Your self assessment, company accounts, or both are prepared, reviewed with you in plain terms, and submitted. You see the numbers before anything goes to HMRC. You approve; we file.

4

You get on with medicine

Your tax is done, your compliance is current, and your next deadline is in the diary. HMRC correspondence, if any arrives, comes to us first. Which is, frankly, the way it should be.

Questions

Things doctors usually ask before getting started

Do you understand NHS pay, locum income, and private practice fees — or will I need to explain everything from scratch?+

No explanation needed. NHS employment income, locum agency payments, private clinic invoices, and income from a personal service company are all combinations we see regularly. We know which expenses HMRC accepts for medical professionals — GMC registration, BMA membership, defence union subscriptions, medical indemnity, clinical equipment, and relevant CPD — and we apply them without prompting.

What does it cost, and what exactly is included?+

Self assessment is a fixed £150 per year and covers SA100 and SA302 preparation, all income sources, allowances and reliefs, payments-on-account advice, and timely HMRC submission. If you operate through a limited company, accounts and corporation tax are a fixed £250. Both prices are published and do not change once agreed. If you find a lower price from a qualified practice, we match it.

My previous self assessments were filed in a rush — possibly not quite right. Is that a problem?+

Not unusually so. We regularly take over from situations where previous returns were either incomplete or filed without full consideration of claimable expenses. We can review prior years, identify whether an amendment to HMRC would be beneficial, and bring your records up to date. We will tell you upfront what that involves and what it costs — there are no catch-up surprises after the fact.

Am I locked into a contract?+

No. For fixed-fee services like self assessment and company accounts, you pay per filing — there is no ongoing contract at all. For monthly services such as bookkeeping, we work on rolling terms with no minimum period. If you decide to leave, you leave with complete, tidy records and nothing outstanding.

I have pension annual allowance concerns as a higher earner. Can you help with that?+

Yes. The NHS pension taper issue — where high-earning doctors face unexpected tax charges on pension growth — is something we factor into the self assessment process. We identify whether a charge applies, ensure it is correctly reported, and flag planning considerations for the following year. This is included as part of the filing review, not charged as a separate advisory engagement.

When will I know what my tax bill is going to be?+

Well before January. Once your income information is with us, typically in the autumn, we prepare a draft return and give you the liability figure so you can plan the payment. Payments on account for the following year are also explained at the same time — so there are no figures appearing in your bank statement that you were not expecting.

Ready when you are
