Can you handle payroll for construction businesses and CIS subcontractors?+

Yes. CIS payroll is part of the service. We calculate the correct deduction rate for each subcontractor — whether that is 20%, 30%, or gross payment status — file the monthly CIS return with HMRC, and issue deduction statements on time. If you have a mix of employed staff and CIS-registered subcontractors, both are managed together.

How is payroll priced and what is included?+

Payroll is quoted based on your headcount and pay frequency — weekly, fortnightly, or monthly. The quote covers RTI submissions, auto-enrolment pension reporting, and year-end P60s and P45s. CIS returns are included for construction businesses. There are no hidden monthly add-ons. If you find a lower quote from another provider, we will match it.

We have been managing payroll ourselves and things might not be in great shape — can you help?+

Payroll records that have not been maintained correctly — missed RTI submissions, incorrect tax codes, unclaimed employment allowance — are something we see regularly. We will review where things stand, identify any gaps, and work through a catch-up process before taking over the ongoing service. The cost of the review depends on how far back the issues go, which we will confirm before starting.

Is there a minimum contract or a notice period if we want to leave?+

There is no long-term contract. If you decide to move on, you leave with a complete set of payroll records and all the data you need to hand over to whoever comes next. We ask for reasonable notice before a pay run so the transition does not leave anyone without a payslip, but that is about practicality rather than lock-in.

Do you handle pension auto-enrolment if we have not set it up yet?+

Yes. If you have not yet met your auto-enrolment duties, we can help you assess your obligations, choose an appropriate pension scheme, and get contributions set up correctly from the point you bring us on board. Ignoring auto-enrolment duties can result in compliance notices and fines from The Pensions Regulator, so it is worth getting this sorted alongside the payroll setup.

Can directors of limited companies use this service for a single-person payroll?+

Yes, and it is one of the more common arrangements we handle. A director-only payroll is typically structured to make use of the annual salary and dividend split in the most tax-efficient way. We will flag the optimal salary level for the current tax year as part of the setup, rather than just processing whatever figure you suggest.
