What exactly is a confirmation statement and why does my company need one?
Every UK limited company must file a confirmation statement with Companies House at least once every twelve months. It is not an accounts document — it is a snapshot of your company’s details: registered office, directors, shareholders, SIC codes, and persons with significant control. Failing to file on time is a criminal offence and can result in Companies House beginning to strike the company off the register. We prepare the confirmation, review your current details for accuracy, and submit the CS01 on your behalf.
What does it cost and what is included?
Confirmation statement filing is a fixed £70 one-off fee. Dormant company accounts are a fixed £50. Both include preparation, a review of your current Companies House record, submission, and confirmation once accepted. Company formations, closures, and restorations are quoted individually as the work involved varies — contact us and we will give you a figure the same day. If you find a lower published price elsewhere, we will match it.
My company details are out of date — is that a problem before filing?
Not at all, and it is better to sort it before the confirmation statement goes in rather than after. Part of our process is checking your Companies House record before we file anything. If there are changes needed — a new director, an updated address, a revised SIC code — we handle those at the same time. Arriving with a slightly disordered record is normal. It does not change the fee.
Am I tied into any kind of ongoing contract?
No. The fixed-fee services — confirmation statement, dormant accounts — are one-off engagements. You pay for the filing, we do the work, it is done. There is no retainer, no monthly subscription, and nothing to cancel. If you want us to handle your accounts and corporation tax as well, we can quote for that separately. But there is no obligation and no lock-in either way.
Can you also handle my company formation or strike-off?
Yes. Company formations, closures (voluntary strike-off), and restorations are all services we provide. Each is quoted individually because the work involved depends on the specific circumstances — number of shareholders, outstanding liabilities, HMRC position, and so on. Should I also be thinking about corporation tax when my accounts are filed?
If your company is trading, your year-end accounts and corporation tax return (CT600) go hand in hand with your Companies House filing. We offer a fixed £250 fee for company accounts and tax return — that covers the P&L, balance sheet, CT600, HMRC submission, and Companies House filing, plus basic tax planning.
