CT600

Corporation Tax Returns (CT600)

Your corporation tax return, filed correctly and on time.

Every UK limited company must file a CT600 with HMRC within 12 months of its accounting period end, and pay any tax owed within nine months and one day. Qualified accountants, ACSP-registered with Companies House, transparent pricing.

  • CT600 and tax computation prepared accurately from your records
  • Corporation tax liability calculated and clearly explained before you pay
  • Filed with HMRC on time, with no last-minute scramble
  • Allowable reliefs and deductions reviewed as part of the work

No long-term contract required. If it is not working, you leave with your records in order and nothing outstanding.

Sound familiar?

Not quite sure what your corporation tax bill will be?

Most limited company directors know a CT600 needs filing at some point, but the exact deadlines, what counts as an allowable expense, and how much is actually owed are usually less clear. The filing deadline and the payment deadline are different dates entirely, which catches people out. Leave it too long and the penalties start before you have even looked at the numbers.

  • No clear picture of your tax liability until the deadline is close
  • Unsure which expenses and reliefs reduce the bill legitimately
  • Filing and payment deadlines that differ, and are easy to miss

What a properly handled CT600 looks like

Your tax liability is calculated from your accounts, reviewed for allowable deductions, and filed with HMRC well within the deadline. You know the figure in advance, so there are no surprises when the payment falls due.

  • Tax liability calculated and communicated well before the payment due date
  • Allowable expenses and reliefs reviewed so the bill is accurate, not overstated
  • CT600 filed to HMRC on time, with both deadlines tracked and managed for you
  • Transparent, fixed fee for most limited companies, with no unexpected extras

Included as standard
02

Tax Liability Calculated in Advance

Your corporation tax figure is calculated and explained before the payment deadline, so you can plan your cash flow accordingly. We set out what is owed, when it is due, and what drove the number, in plain English rather than accounting shorthand.

Included as standard
03

Deductions and Reliefs Reviewed

As part of preparing the return, we check that allowable expenses, capital allowances, and any relevant reliefs have been applied correctly. This is not a separate advisory engagement, it is part of getting the return right.

Why clients choose us

What makes the difference year on year

There is no shortage of accountants who will file a CT600. The difference is in how clearly the process is handled, how well the reliefs are applied, and whether you actually understand what you are paying.

📅

Deadlines Tracked, Not Chased

Your CT600 filing deadline and corporation tax payment date are two different dates, and both are monitored from the moment we have your year-end figures. You receive advance notice of each, so nothing creeps up on you.

🔍

The Return Is Checked, Not Just Filed

Before submission, we review your expenses, capital allowances, and any reliefs you are entitled to. A CT600 that is simply transposed from the accounts without scrutiny often costs more than it should. We check the computation, not just the format.

💬

Your Tax Bill Explained in Plain Terms

Once the return is prepared, we summarise what you owe, what drove the figure, and when it falls due, in language that does not require an accounting background to follow. You know exactly where you stand before HMRC sends anything.

Getting started

Your CT600 sorted in four steps

The process is straightforward from your end. Once you share your year-end information, we handle the preparation, review, and submission, keeping you informed at each stage.

1

Request a Quote

Fill in the quote form with a few details about your company, including the accounting year end and whether your accounts are already prepared. We will confirm what is included and the fee before any work begins.

2

Share Your Records

You send us your year-end accounts, or we request them from your bookkeeping software if we hold access. If your records need tidying first, we will tell you upfront what that involves rather than discovering it mid-return.

3

We Prepare and Review

We prepare the CT600 and supporting tax computation, check that deductions and reliefs are correctly applied, and send you a summary for approval. You review a clear explanation of your tax liability, not a raw form.

4

Filed, Confirmed, Done

Once you approve, we submit to HMRC and send you confirmation of the filing. You know the payment date, the amount due, and that HMRC has received everything it needs. Which is, frankly, the way it should be.

Questions

Things people usually ask about CT600 filing

What is a CT600 and when does my limited company need to file one?+

A CT600 is the corporation tax return that every UK limited company must file with HMRC each year, covering the accounting period in question. The deadline for filing is 12 months after the end of the accounting period. The deadline for paying the corporation tax owed is earlier, at nine months and one day after the period end. Both dates are tracked as part of our service so neither catches you off guard.

What does the corporation tax service cost, and what is included?+

For most standard limited companies, the CT600 is prepared and filed as part of our Company Accounts and Tax Return service at a fixed annual fee of £250. This covers preparation of the profit and loss account, balance sheet, CT600 and tax computation, and submission to both HMRC and Companies House. More complex situations, such as R&D tax credit claims, group relief, or significant capital allowances, may attract a different quote, which we confirm before starting.

My bookkeeping is behind. Can you still file my CT600?+

Yes, although we will need to understand the state of your records before quoting. If your books need catching up before the accounts can be prepared, we will confirm what that involves and the additional cost. It is usually more straightforward than people expect, and we would rather know the situation upfront than encounter it partway through the job.

Is there a long-term contract, and what happens if I want to leave?+

No long-term contract. Our corporation tax filing is priced per year as a one-off engagement. If you decide not to return the following year, your records remain yours and we will confirm any outstanding obligations before wrapping up. There is nothing to unwind and nothing owed beyond the agreed fee.

Can you help me reduce my corporation tax bill through legitimate planning?+

As part of preparing the CT600, we review allowable deductions and ensure the correct reliefs are applied, which in itself often corrects returns that have been overpaying. Where there is scope for more structured planning, such as timing of expenditure, pension contributions, or director remuneration, we can discuss this separately. We do not promise dramatic reductions, but a correctly prepared return with reliefs properly applied is a reasonable starting point.

What happens if my company misses the CT600 deadline?+

HMRC issues automatic penalties for late filing: £100 immediately, a further £100 after three months, and tax-geared penalties after 12 months. Interest also runs on any tax paid late. If a deadline has already passed, the practical step is to file as soon as possible rather than wait. We can prepare and submit the return promptly and, where there is a reasonable excuse, advise whether an appeal is worth pursuing.
