Accountants for Delivery Drivers

Accountants for Delivery Drivers

Get your delivery driver tax return done properly, without the guesswork.

Most delivery drivers working across Deliveroo, Uber Eats, Amazon Flex, or Just Eat are self-employed sole traders with a genuine self assessment obligation and a number of allowable expenses they are not claiming. We handle the return from start to finish: fixed fee of £150, qualified accountants, and a reply to your questions the same day you ask them.

  • Your self assessment filed accurately and on time, every year
  • Mileage, phone, insurance, and equipment claims checked and applied correctly
  • Your tax bill known well before HMRC sends the reminder
  • Income from multiple platforms reconciled and reported correctly

No long-term contract required. If things are not working after three months, you leave with clean records and nothing owed.

Sound familiar?

Still not sure what you owe HMRC this year?

Delivery driving looks simple from the outside. In practice, most drivers are juggling income from two or three platforms, not tracking mileage consistently, and leaving it until January to work out what the tax bill is. By that point, payments on account have already caught some people out twice. The admin is not complicated, but it does need to be done correctly.

  • Income from Deliveroo, Uber Eats, and Amazon Flex recorded separately and never reconciled
  • Mileage logs kept inconsistently, or not kept at all, meaning valid claims are missed
  • Tax bill unknown until January, with no warning about the July payment on account

What sorted looks like

We handle the return from end to end: pulling together your platform income, checking every allowable expense, and submitting to HMRC before the deadline. You know your tax bill months in advance, not days before it is due.

  • All platform income pulled together accurately, one clear figure for HMRC
  • Mileage and expense claims checked against HMRC rules so you keep what you are entitled to
  • Tax liability calculated early, with payments on account explained clearly and in advance
  • Fixed fee of £150 for self assessment, with no surprise charges at year end

What you get

What the fixed fee covers

The core service for delivery drivers is self assessment, handled properly from start to finish. We also offer bookkeeping and tax planning for those who want more ongoing support.

01

Self Assessment Tax Return

Your SA100 and SA302 prepared and submitted to HMRC for a fixed fee of £150. We handle income from multiple platforms, apply every allowable expense correctly, and calculate your liability including payments on account, so there are no surprises in January or July.

Fixed fee: £150
02

Mileage and Expense Review

Delivery drivers can claim mileage at HMRC’s approved rates, as well as phone costs, insurance, equipment, and platform fees. We review what you have and make sure the claims going into your return are accurate and defensible if HMRC ever asks.

03

Bookkeeping and Records

If you want your income tracked month by month rather than pieced together at year end, we offer ongoing bookkeeping using Xero, QuickBooks, or FreeAgent. It means your accounts are always current, and there is no scramble when the self assessment deadline approaches.

Why Wings Online Filings

What makes this different from a generic accountant

There are plenty of accountants who will file a return. Fewer will check your expenses properly, explain payments on account before they land, or reply to a question the same day you ask it.

🚗

We already know how delivery pay works

Platform pay can look confusing on a bank statement: weekly settlements, tip allocations, and adjustments that do not always match what you were expecting. You will not need to explain how Deliveroo or Amazon Flex pays out before we can help. We work with self-employed delivery drivers regularly and know what the income records look like.

📋

Expenses checked, not just accepted

There is a difference between listing expenses and checking whether they are allowable. Mileage, phone use, insurance, and equipment all have specific HMRC rules around how much you can claim and how. We apply those rules correctly so your return is accurate and your claims hold up.

🔒

Qualified accountants, properly regulated

Wings Online Filings is an Authorised Corporate Service Provider registered with Companies House, AML-supervised by HMRC, and covered by professional indemnity insurance. Your return is handled by qualified accountants, not software with a human attached to approve it.

Getting started

Up and running in four straightforward steps

You do not need tidy records or a clear idea of what you owe before getting in touch. We work with people at all stages, including those who have not filed yet and are not sure where to start.

1

Get a Quote

Fill in the short form on this page or give us a call. We will ask a few basic questions about your situation: which platforms you work on, whether you have kept records, and what tax year you need help with. No commitment at this stage.

2

Send Us Your Records

Once you are ready to proceed, you share your income records and any expense information you have. That might be bank statements, platform earnings summaries, or a mileage log. If records are incomplete or missing, we will tell you what we can work with and what we need.

3

We Prepare Your Return

We pull together your income from all platforms, check your allowable expenses against HMRC rules, and prepare your self assessment return. We calculate your tax liability and explain your payments on account before anything is submitted.

4

Filed and Done for the Year

Your return is submitted to HMRC and you receive confirmation. You know exactly what you owe and when it is due, months before the January deadline. The following year, we are already familiar with your situation and the process takes less time again.

Questions

Things delivery drivers usually ask us

I work on multiple platforms: Deliveroo, Uber Eats, and Amazon Flex. Can you handle income from all of them?+

Yes. Each platform pays differently and the settlement records can look quite different from one another. We pull together income from all the platforms you work on, reconcile it against your bank statements where needed, and report the combined figure correctly on your self assessment. You do not need to pre-sort it before sending it to us.

What does it cost, and what is included in the fee?+

Self assessment for a sole trader delivery driver is a fixed fee of £150. That covers preparation of your SA100 and SA302, income from multiple sources, allowable expense claims, payments on account advice, and submission to HMRC. If you also need bookkeeping or ongoing records support, we quote for that separately based on your volume. There are no additional charges once we have agreed the scope.

My records are in a bit of a state. I have not kept a proper mileage log and some months are missing. Can you still help?+

It is a fairly common starting point. We will tell you at the outset what we can work with and what we need to reconstruct. In some cases, HMRC allows estimates for mileage if they are reasonable and documented. In others, we use bank statements and platform records to rebuild the picture. The return will be as accurate as the information available, and we will be clear with you about what that means for your position.

Do I have to commit to a long-term contract?+

No. Self assessment is a one-off fixed fee each year. If you want ongoing bookkeeping or monthly support, that is a separate arrangement and can be stopped with reasonable notice. There is no minimum term and nothing owed if you decide not to continue after your first return.

What expenses can I actually claim as a delivery driver?+

The main ones are mileage at HMRC’s approved rate (currently 45p per mile for the first 10,000 miles by car or van), a portion of your mobile phone costs if used for work, protective clothing or equipment specific to the job, and relevant insurance. Platform fees and subscription costs directly related to earning the income may also be allowable. We check each category against current HMRC guidance rather than applying a blanket rule.

I am earning more now. Do I need to think about VAT?+

If your taxable turnover crosses £90,000 in any rolling 12-month period, you are required to register for VAT. Most delivery drivers are some way below that threshold, but it is worth keeping an eye on if your income is growing or you have other self-employed income alongside your driving. We monitor this as part of our ongoing work and flag it before you reach the threshold, not after.
