accountant for delivery drivers

Accountant for Delivery Drivers

Your delivery driver tax return, handled.

Most delivery drivers are self-employed across one or more platforms — Deliveroo, Uber Eats, Amazon Flex, DPD — and file their own tax return each year, usually without knowing which expenses they can legitimately claim. We prepare and file your self assessment from £150, handled by a qualified accountant, with same-day replies when you have questions.

  • Self assessment filed correctly from £150 fixed fee
  • Mileage, phone, and platform costs claimed where allowable
  • Payments on account calculated so January is not a surprise
  • All platform income reconciled into one clean return

No long-term contract. Get a quote today, and if the numbers do not work for you, nothing is owed.

Sound familiar?

Not sure what you can actually claim?

Delivery drivers are technically running a business, which means keeping records, filing a self assessment each year, and knowing which expenses HMRC will accept. Most drivers do not have an accountant telling them what is allowable — so they either claim too little, claim the wrong things, or leave it until January and guess. None of those outcomes are good.

  • Not knowing which mileage, phone, and equipment costs are claimable
  • Income from multiple platforms sitting in different apps with no clear total
  • Payments on account arriving in July as an unexpected second bill

What a clean return looks like

We go through your income and costs properly, identify everything HMRC allows you to claim, and file a return that is accurate and on time. Tax is calculated well before the deadline, so you know what is coming.

  • Every allowable expense — mileage, kit, data, insurance — identified and claimed
  • Income from all platforms totalled accurately into one return, no gaps
  • Payments on account explained in advance — January bill is never a surprise
  • Fixed £150 fee for self assessment — no hidden charges, no hourly billing

Why Wings Online Filings

Why delivery drivers work with us

There are a few things that matter most when you are self-employed and filing your own tax return. Here is where we are different.

💷

Fixed fee, known upfront

Your self assessment is £150, paid once a year. There is no hourly rate, no invoice that grows as the work does, and no bill you were not expecting. The price is the price — and we back it with a price match promise: show us a lower quote from another accountant and we will match it.

🚗

We already know how platforms pay

You will not need to explain what a Deliveroo settlement looks like, how Amazon Flex weekly transfers work, or why your bank deposits do not match your app earnings to the penny. We work with gig economy income regularly and know where the numbers come from before you send them.

📱

Fully online, no office visit needed

Everything is handled remotely. You send your income figures, we prepare the return, you approve it, and it is filed with HMRC. Questions get answered the same day by someone who knows your return. There is no need to take time off to sit in a waiting room.

Getting started

Up and running in four steps

Most delivery driver clients are fully set up and have their return filed within a few weeks of getting in touch. The process is straightforward.

1

Get a free quote

Fill in the short form on this page with a few basic details about your work. You will have a fixed quote back the same day. No obligation, no call required if you prefer email.

2

Share your income figures

We will tell you exactly what we need — platform statements, mileage logs, any additional income. If your records are incomplete, we can work with what you have and advise on what is recoverable.

3

We prepare your return

A qualified accountant reviews your income, identifies every allowable deduction, calculates your tax liability, and prepares the SA100 for your approval. We explain the numbers in plain terms before anything is submitted.

4

Filed, done, no surprises

Once you approve, we file directly with HMRC. You receive confirmation, a clear summary of your tax bill, and your payments on account schedule so there is nothing unexpected in January or July. Which is, frankly, the way it should be.

Questions

Things delivery drivers usually ask us

Do you understand how Deliveroo, Uber Eats, and Amazon Flex pay out?+

Yes. Gig platform income comes in weekly or fortnightly transfers that rarely match the gross earnings shown in the app, once fees, tips, and adjustments are factored in. We are familiar with how each platform reports income and how to reconcile those figures accurately for your self assessment. You will not need to explain the mechanics before getting a useful answer.

What does it actually cost for a delivery driver’s self assessment?+

A standard self assessment for a delivery driver is a fixed £150 one-off annual fee. That covers preparation of your SA100 and SA302, income from multiple platforms, claiming all applicable allowances, advice on payments on account, and timely HMRC submission. If you also have PAYE employment income or other sources, we confirm the fee before starting. We back all pricing with a price match promise: show us a lower quote and we will match it.

I have not kept great records this year — can you still help?+

Most of the time, yes. Platform apps retain earnings history, and HMRC’s mileage rates mean a mileage log is worth reconstructing even retrospectively. We will tell you what is recoverable, what is not, and what a reasonable return looks like given what you have. If there are gaps, we will be straight with you about what that means for your allowances.

Is there a contract, or am I locked in for the year?+

No lock-in. Self assessment is a one-off fixed fee per tax year — you pay for the work done, not for an ongoing retainer. If you want bookkeeping support throughout the year, that is a separate arrangement, also with no long-term commitment required.

I also have a PAYE job alongside my delivery work — does that complicate things?+

Mixed income is common and handled routinely. Your self assessment brings together your employed income (already reported through PAYE) and your self-employed platform earnings, calculates what tax is still owed on the self-employed portion, and accounts for Class 2 and Class 4 National Insurance contributions where applicable. It adds a small amount of complexity but no additional fee in most cases.

What expenses can delivery drivers actually claim?+

The main categories are mileage at HMRC’s approved rates (45p per mile for the first 10,000 miles), a proportion of mobile phone costs, any specialist equipment or clothing required for the work, and insurance premiums specific to your delivery activity. Meals on the road are generally not allowable unless you are staying away from home overnight. We go through your specific costs as part of preparing the return and claim everything that is supportable.
