Freelancer Accountant

Freelancer Accountant

Your self assessment and tax, handled properly.

Most freelancers sort their tax themselves until something catches them out: a missed payment on account, an unexpected bill, an allowance they never claimed. We take that off your plate. Fixed fees from £150, qualified accountants, and clear answers when you need them.

  • Self assessment filed accurately, with all allowable expenses claimed
  • Your tax liability known well before HMRC sends the reminder
  • Bookkeeping kept current so year-end is straightforward
  • VAT registration and returns handled if your turnover warrants it

No long-term contract. Start with a one-off self assessment if that is all you need, and add further support as your work grows.

Sound familiar?

Still sorting your own tax at the last minute?

Most freelancers manage fine for a year or two, then the complexity creeps up. Multiple clients, some expenses you are not sure about, a payment on account you did not expect, and a deadline you nearly missed. It is not that the work is beyond you; it is that it takes time you do not have and knowledge that changes every year.

  • Not confident you are claiming every allowable expense you are entitled to
  • Payments on account catching you off guard and disrupting your cash flow
  • Spending evenings on HMRC forms instead of billable work or rest

What sorted looks like for a freelancer

Your accounts are current, your tax position is visible, and nothing arrives as a surprise. You know what you owe and when, and you are not leaving money behind through missed allowances or wrong estimates.

  • Every allowable expense identified and claimed correctly on your tax return
  • Payments on account calculated and flagged in advance so cash flow stays predictable
  • Your self assessment prepared and filed by a qualified accountant, on time
  • Fixed fee of £150 for a self assessment, with no hidden extras

Why Wings Online Filings

What makes us the right fit for freelancers

There are plenty of accountants. Here is why freelancers and self-employed professionals choose to work with us.

🧾

We know how freelancers get paid

Multiple clients, irregular invoices, late payments, and expenses that sit in a grey area: these are the normal features of freelance income, not complications we need explained. We already know which expenses hold up with HMRC, which allowances are worth claiming, and how to structure your self assessment correctly from the outset.

🔒

Fixed fees, no end-of-year surprises

Your self assessment is a fixed £150. You know the cost before we start, and there is nothing added on at the end. For ongoing bookkeeping and VAT, we quote upfront based on your volume, so the monthly figure is agreed in advance and does not change without discussion.

☁️

Fully remote, no unnecessary meetings

We operate entirely online, serving clients across the UK by email, phone, and video call. You do not need to travel to an office or take time out of your working day. Everything is handled digitally, using cloud accounting platforms you may already have or can set up in a few minutes.

Getting started

Up and running in four straightforward steps

Most clients are set up and have a clear plan within a few days of making contact. Here is what to expect.

1

Get a Free Quote

Fill in the short quote form or call us on 020 8089 1876. Tell us what you need: a one-off self assessment, ongoing bookkeeping, or both. We will come back to you with a clear, fixed price.

2

Share Your Information

Once you are happy to proceed, we will send a simple checklist of what we need: income figures, expenses, any HMRC correspondence, and access to your bookkeeping software if you have one. You do not need to have everything perfectly organised.

3

We Prepare Everything

Your qualified accountant prepares your self assessment or sets up your bookkeeping, checking for allowances and making sure the figures are right. We will come back to you if anything needs clarifying, in plain English.

4

Filed, Confirmed, Done

Your return is filed with HMRC and you receive confirmation. You know your tax bill, when it is due, and what to expect for the year ahead. From that point, there is considerably less to think about.

Questions

Things freelancers usually ask us

I have several clients and mixed income streams. Can you handle a self assessment that is not straightforward?+

Yes. Multiple clients, project-based income, part-time employment alongside freelance work, foreign income, and income from a side business are all things we deal with regularly on self assessment returns. We will ask the right questions at the start so nothing is missed and nothing is filed incorrectly.

What does a self assessment cost, and what does the fee include?+

A self assessment tax return is a fixed fee of £150. That covers preparation of the SA100 and SA302, income from multiple sources, applicable allowances and reliefs, advice on payments on account, and submission to HMRC. There are no add-on charges for a standard return. If your situation is more complex (for example, capital gains or foreign income), we will tell you upfront before any additional charge applies.

My records are a bit of a mess. Can you still help?+

Frequently. We offer catch-up bookkeeping for clients whose records have fallen behind, and we can work with bank statements, receipts, and partial records to reconstruct figures where needed. We will be straightforward with you about what is involved and quote accordingly before starting.

Is there a contract or minimum commitment?+

Not for one-off work. A self assessment is a single fixed-fee engagement with no ongoing obligation. For monthly bookkeeping or VAT, we work on a rolling basis and ask for reasonable notice if you want to stop. There is no long-term lock-in, and if you leave, your records go with you.

Do I need to register for VAT as a freelancer, and when?+

You are required to register for VAT when your taxable turnover exceeds £90,000 in any rolling 12-month period. If you are approaching that threshold, it is worth monitoring it and planning ahead rather than reacting to it after the fact. We can advise on timing, the registration process, and whether the Flat Rate Scheme makes sense for the work you do.

Can you help me plan my tax rather than just file it?+

Yes, and it is worth doing. Knowing your likely tax bill several months before the January deadline gives you time to manage cash flow and make any relevant pension contributions or other allowable adjustments before the tax year closes. We include basic tax planning as part of the self assessment service and can provide more detailed advice where it is warranted.
