Accountants for Hairdressers

Accountants for Hairdressers

Your salon accounts and tax, handled properly.

Running a salon or working as a self-employed stylist leaves little time for bookkeeping, VAT thresholds, and HMRC deadlines. We handle the numbers so you can focus on the clients. Qualified accountants, fixed fees published upfront, and replies the same day you ask.

  • Self assessment filed accurately, well before the January deadline
  • VAT threshold monitored so you are never caught out unexpectedly
  • Payroll and PAYE handled correctly for employed and casual staff
  • Clear, fixed pricing with no hidden charges at year end

No long-term contract. If it is not working after three months, you leave with clean books and nothing owed.

Sound familiar?

Still not sure what your tax bill is going to be?

Hairdressers and salon owners deal with a mix of cash, card, tips, product sales, and chair rental income, and most of it ends up in a drawer to sort out later. Self assessment deadlines creep up, the VAT threshold is easier to cross than it looks, and staff payroll adds another layer of admin on top of a full diary. Most of this is avoidable with the right support in place.

  • Mixed cash, card, and tip income making monthly bookkeeping a mess to untangle
  • Self assessment filed late, or guessed at, with no clear sense of what is owed
  • No clear picture of whether product and service turnover is approaching the VAT threshold

What sorted looks like

Your books are clean, your tax position is visible, and the filing deadlines are off your plate. You know what you owe and when, without surprises at year end.

  • Books reconciled monthly, covering all income streams including tips and retail sales
  • Self assessment prepared and submitted accurately, with your tax bill known months early
  • VAT threshold tracked so you register at the right time, not after the fact
  • Fixed, transparent fees so you know the cost before the work begins

What small business owners say about us

We work with sole traders and small business owners across the UK. Here is what a couple of them said about the experience.

★★★★★

Working with Prad is an absolute lifesaver as someone just starting out in the business world. Being new to everything, it can feel incredibly overwhelming, but Prad makes the whole process straightforward and stress-free. His knowledge of UK accounting and HM Revenue & Customs is second to none, and he always takes the time to explain things clearly rather than leaving me confused. Having someone I can fully trust to handle my filings means I can focus on actually growing my business rather than drowning in paperwork. If you’re a new business owner looking for a reliable, knowledgeable accountant, I couldn’t recommend Prad highly enough!

Why Wings Online Filings

What makes working with us different

There are plenty of accountants to choose from. Here is what shapes the experience of working with us.

✂️

We already know how salons work

Mixed income, tips, product retail, chair rental arrangements and seasonal swings in trade are not unusual to us. You will not need to spend the first call explaining how your business operates before getting a useful answer. We get on with it.

📋

Fixed fees, no year-end surprises

The most common filings carry a fixed, published price: self assessment from £150, company accounts and tax return £250, confirmation statement £70. You know what you are paying before the work starts, which is how it should be.

🔒

Qualified, regulated, and properly insured

We are qualified accountants, an Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP) registered with Companies House, and AML-supervised by HMRC. Professional indemnity insurance is in place. The credentials are there when you need to check them.

Getting started

Up and running in four simple steps

Most clients are fully onboarded within a week. The process is straightforward and we handle the heavy lifting from day one.

1

Request a Free Quote

Fill in the short form on this page or call us directly. Tell us a bit about your business, whether you are a sole trader, a limited company, or somewhere in between, and we will come back with a clear, fixed quote the same day.

2

We Review Your Position

We take a look at where things currently stand: what is filed, what is outstanding, and what needs to happen next. If your books are behind or in need of tidying up, we will tell you what that involves and what it costs before we start.

3

We Handle the Work

Bookkeeping, VAT, payroll, self assessment, year-end accounts: whichever applies to you, we take it on. You share access to your records and we get on with it. Most clients find they have very little to do once we are set up.

4

You Focus on the Salon

Your filings go in on time, your tax position is visible throughout the year, and there is no scramble at the January or April deadline. The admin is handled, and you know where you stand financially without having to ask.

Questions

Things hairdressers usually ask us first

Do you understand the VAT rules for salon services, including chair rental and product sales?+

Yes. The VAT treatment of salon income is not always straightforward: standard-rated services, retail product sales, and chair rental income can all sit alongside each other in the same business. We are familiar with how this works in practice, including the implications of crossing the registration threshold when combined turnover is taken into account. If you are unsure where you stand, we can review your position and give you a clear answer.

What does it cost, and what is included?+

For sole trader hairdressers, self assessment is a fixed £150 one-off annual fee, which covers preparation of your SA100 and SA302, all applicable income sources, allowances and reliefs, and timely submission to HMRC. For limited company salon owners, company accounts and corporation tax return is £250, and confirmation statement filing is £70. Bookkeeping, VAT returns, and payroll are quoted based on your volume and requirements. All pricing is confirmed upfront before any work begins.

My books are in a bit of a state. Can you still help?+

This is not unusual. Many clients come to us with records that have not been kept up to date, receipts in a folder, or bank reconciliations that have not been done in months. We offer a catch-up bookkeeping service to bring everything current before we move to ongoing work. We will tell you what the catch-up involves and what it costs before we start, so there are no surprises.

Is there a minimum contract or a tie-in period?+

No. There is no long-term contract and no lock-in. Fixed-fee filings are one-off transactions. For ongoing services such as bookkeeping or payroll, we work on a monthly basis and you can give notice without penalty. If you decide to move on, we will make sure your records are tidy and your new accountant has everything they need.

I rent a chair and work for myself. Do I need a limited company, or am I better off as a sole trader?+

Most self-employed stylists renting a chair operate as sole traders, which is straightforward and low-cost to run. Whether incorporating as a limited company would be worth it depends on your profit level and personal circumstances. We can look at both options with you and give you an honest view of which structure makes sense, without pushing you towards unnecessary complexity.

What expenses can I claim as a hairdresser or salon owner?+

The list is broader than most people expect: scissors, clippers, and tools, professional products used in the business, salon rent, chair rental costs you pay out, uniform and workwear, professional subscriptions, and use of a vehicle for business travel, among others. We make sure you are claiming everything you are entitled to, rather than leaving allowable deductions on the table.
