Accountant for Cafes and Restaurants
Your hospitality accounts, handled properly.
Running a cafe or restaurant means tight margins, tip rotas, staff turnover, and VAT rules that change depending on what you serve. You do not need an accountant who has to Google how hospitality VAT works. Fixed fees from £150, qualified accountants, and replies the same day you ask.
- VAT correctly split across food, hot drinks, and eat-in versus takeaway
- Weekly wages and tip schemes processed without delays or RTI errors
- Year-end accounts and corporation tax filed on time, every year
- Your tax position known well before the bill arrives from HMRC
No long-term contract. If it is not working after three months, you leave with clean books and nothing owed. Which is, frankly, the way it should be.

Sound familiar?
The books are the last thing you have time for.
Hospitality businesses carry more accounting complexity than most. Food VAT is not straightforward. Payroll runs weekly. Cash and card takings need reconciling daily. And somewhere in the middle of all that, there are statutory deadlines that do not move because service ran late.
- VAT returns filed incorrectly because food, hot drinks, and eat-in rates were mixed up
- Payroll processed late or wages miscalculated because the books are always two weeks behind
- Year-end arrives and the accounts are in a drawer, not a spreadsheet
What sorted looks like
Your bookkeeping, VAT, and payroll run quietly in the background. Your tax position is visible before HMRC makes it urgent. You focus on the kitchen and front of house, not the filing cabinet.
- VAT correctly calculated across all rate categories, submitted on time every quarter
- Payroll processed accurately each week, RTI submissions handled, P60s and P45s issued
- Books reconciled and ready well before the year-end deadline, no scramble required
- Fixed fees from £150, with a price match promise if you find a lower quote elsewhere
What hospitality business owners say
Clients across the UK use Wings to keep their books clean and their compliance current, without paying more than they should.
Working with Wings Online Filings Ltd has been an absolute pleasure. They are highly communicative, supportive, and provide a responsive, cost-effective service that perfectly suits my small architecture practice. I switched from another accountant about a year ago and haven’t looked back since. Their expertise, efficiency, and positive ‘can-do’ attitude make them stand out, and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone seeking a new accountant.
Absolutely brilliant service. Prads is so efficient and knowledgeable. For the first time I feel well supported and informed over my self assessment returns and tax advice in general. Thank you
Everything a hospitality business needs covered
From weekly payroll to quarterly VAT and annual accounts, these are the services most cafe and restaurant owners need, at prices that are published upfront.
VAT Returns and MTD Compliance
Food and drink businesses sit across multiple VAT rate categories. Hot food, cold takeaway, eat-in, alcohol, and soft drinks are not all treated the same, and getting the split wrong creates penalties and correction filings. Your VAT return is prepared accurately each quarter and submitted under Making Tax Digital, with the right scheme selected for your turnover and trading pattern.
Quoted based on requirementsPayroll and Weekly Wages
Most hospitality businesses run weekly payroll, often with variable hours, tips, and seasonal staff changes. RTI submissions go to HMRC on time, auto-enrolment is managed, and year-end P60s and P45s are issued without chasing. If you operate a tronc arrangement, that is handled too.
Quoted based on requirementsYear-End Accounts and Tax Filing
Company Accounts and Corporation Tax Return filed to HMRC and Companies House for a fixed £250 one-off annual fee. Sole trader Self Assessment is £150. Your P&L and balance sheet are prepared from clean records, tax liabilities are calculated in plain terms, and submissions are made on time.
Fixed annual fee from £150Consistent results across different businesses
These are the kinds of results clients describe, from first-time founders to established operators who have switched from another accountant.

Why cafe and restaurant owners choose us
These are the specific reasons hospitality businesses move to Wings, and why most of them stay.
Already knows how hospitality works
You will not need to explain how split VAT rates apply across your menu, or why your payroll runs weekly instead of monthly. Hospitality accounting has its own conventions, and the work is done by people who already understand them. That saves time from the first conversation.
The best priced online accountants
Wings is the best priced online accountancy practice in the UK, backed by a price match promise: show us a lower quote from a comparable business and we will match it. Company accounts and corporation tax return from £250. Self assessment from £150. Bookkeeping, VAT, and payroll quoted based on your specific requirements.
Numbers explained in plain terms
Margins in hospitality are thin and the picture changes weekly. You will know where your business stands at any given point, explained in plain terms rather than in spreadsheet notation. Tax obligations are communicated before they become urgent, not after.
Up and running in four straightforward steps
The process is designed to be low-effort on your side. Most clients are fully onboarded within a week of first contact.
Tell us about your business
Fill in the short quote form or call us on 020 8089 1876. A few questions about your business structure, turnover, number of employees, and current accounts software is all that is needed to give you a clear, fixed price.
Receive a clear fixed quote
You will receive a written quote with a fixed price and a plain-English description of exactly what is included. No hourly rates, no scope creep, no surprises later. If you have seen a lower price elsewhere, tell us and we will match it.
We take over the compliance
Once you are on board, access to your cloud accounting software is set up, any catch-up bookkeeping is agreed, and your VAT, payroll, and filing calendar is managed from that point forward. You do not need to keep track of what is due when.
You focus on the restaurant
Your books are current, your VAT is filed, your staff are paid accurately, and your year-end will not be a scramble. HMRC correspondence goes to us first. You run the business knowing the financial side is under control.
“Wings online filings were really helpful, insightful and professional. I would recommend them for all businesses and small accounting matters.”
A few things cafe and restaurant owners ask
Do you understand how VAT works for food businesses, including the split between standard-rated and zero-rated items?
Yes. The distinction between hot and cold food, takeaway and eat-in, and alcohol versus soft drinks is something we work with regularly. Getting the VAT apportionment wrong is one of the more common issues HMRC picks up in hospitality, so the return is prepared with the correct split applied from the outset. If you are not yet VAT-registered but approaching the threshold, that is monitored too.
What does it cost, and what is included?
Year-end company accounts and corporation tax return is a fixed £250 one-off annual fee. Self assessment for sole traders is £150. Bookkeeping, VAT returns, and payroll are quoted based on your transaction volume, number of employees, and how frequently payroll runs — most quotes are provided within one working day. If you have seen a lower price from a comparable accountancy firm, we will match it.
My books are behind and not in great shape. Is that a problem?
It is not unusual. Most new clients arrive with books that need some degree of catch-up or tidying. We will assess the current state at the start, quote for any catch-up work separately so there are no surprises, and bring everything current before taking over the ongoing work. The catch-up is a fixed one-off fee, not an open-ended project.
Is there a minimum contract or a notice period if I want to leave?
There is no long-term contract. If you want to leave, your records are returned in a clean and usable format. We do not make switching difficult, because we would rather earn the relationship than enforce it. Most clients stay because the service works, not because the paperwork does not let them leave.
Can you handle tronc arrangements and tips for front-of-house staff?
Yes. If you run a tronc scheme, we can ensure it is structured correctly for income tax and National Insurance purposes and that payments are reported accurately. Tips paid directly by the employer are handled differently from tronc distributions, and the distinction matters for both your payroll obligations and your staff’s tax position.
How far in advance will I know my corporation tax or income tax bill?
For most clients, the tax liability is calculated and communicated at least two to three months before the payment deadline. That gives you time to plan cash flow rather than scrambling when the bill arrives. For restaurant and cafe businesses with seasonal fluctuations, knowing the figure early is particularly useful for avoiding a cash shortfall during a quieter trading period.
Less time on the books, more on the restaurant.
Fixed fees from £150. Qualified accountants who already know how hospitality works. VAT, payroll, bookkeeping, and year-end accounts handled end to end. Best priced online, with a price match promise.
