Sole Trader Accounts
Your sole trader accounts, done properly so you can focus on the work.
Most sole traders dread the annual accounts and tax return, not because the numbers are complicated, but because no one has explained what is actually required. We handle the whole thing: self assessment prepared and filed by a qualified accountant, with clear, fixed pricing and no guesswork on your tax bill.
- Self assessment filed accurately and on time, every year
- Your tax bill confirmed well before the HMRC deadline
- All allowable expenses reviewed so you do not overpay
- Plain-English explanation of what you owe and why
No long-term contract required. If you decide it is not working, you leave with your records in order and nothing outstanding.

Sound familiar?
Still not sure what your tax bill will be this year?
Running your own business means the accounts tend to pile up quietly in the background, until January arrives and you are scrambling to find receipts from eleven months ago. Many sole traders submit their own self assessment and then spend weeks wondering whether they got it right, whether they claimed everything they were entitled to, and whether HMRC is going to come back with questions. It does not have to work that way.
- Self assessment left to the last minute, every single year
- Unsure which expenses are allowable and which are not
- No clear idea of the tax bill until the return is already submitted
What sorted looks like
Your accounts are prepared by a qualified accountant who knows what HMRC expects from a sole trader return. Every allowable expense is reviewed, your tax position is explained in plain terms, and the return is filed before you have to think about it.
- Your self assessment is prepared and submitted well ahead of the January deadline
- All allowable expenses checked, so you are not leaving money on the table
- Your tax liability confirmed before submission, with no surprises on the amount due
- Fixed fee from £150 for self assessment, with a clear quote before any work begins

What makes the difference in practice
There are plenty of accountants who will file your return. Fewer will explain what it means, check your expenses properly, and give you a clear number before hitting submit.
Your tax bill confirmed in advance
Your self assessment is not filed and then forgotten. Before submission, you receive a clear breakdown of what you owe and why, covering income, allowances, and any payments on account due in January and July. There are no surprises when the HMRC statement arrives.
Every allowable expense checked
Sole traders routinely under-claim because they are not sure what HMRC permits. We review your expenses as part of the service, covering home working, equipment, mileage, professional subscriptions, and anything else relevant to your trade. Overclaiming is just as much a problem as under-claiming, and we keep things accurate.
Qualified, regulated, and straightforward to reach
Your return is handled by a qualified accountant. Wings Online Filings is an Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP) registered with Companies House and AML-supervised by HMRC, covered by professional indemnity insurance. Questions get answered promptly, without the phone tag.
Up and running in four straightforward steps
Most clients are set up within a few days. You do not need to have your records in perfect order before getting in touch.

Share Your Information
Once you are happy to proceed, we will ask you to share your income and expense information for the tax year. This can be a spreadsheet, receipts via Dext, or an existing software export. We will tell you exactly what we need.
We Prepare the Return
Your return is prepared by a qualified accountant. We check your expenses, apply the correct allowances and reliefs, and calculate your tax liability. We send you a draft to review before anything is filed.
Filed, Confirmed, Done
Once you approve the return, we file it with HMRC and send you confirmation. You will know your tax bill, your payment dates, and what to expect next year. The accounts are handled, and you can get back to the business.
“Professional, efficient, confidence that everything is taken care of.”
A few things sole traders usually ask
Do you handle sole trader accounts with income from multiple sources?
Yes. Many sole traders have a mix of self-employment income, employment income (PAYE), rental income, or interest and dividends alongside their main trade. The SA100 covers all of these, and we work through each source to make sure the return is complete and accurate. You do not need to pre-sort everything before getting in touch.
How much does it cost, and what is included?
The self assessment tax return is a fixed fee of £150 per year. That covers preparation of your SA100 and SA302, income from all sources, review of allowable expenses, applicable reliefs, payments-on-account advice, and timely submission to HMRC. If you also need bookkeeping or VAT support, those are quoted separately based on your requirements.
My records are in a bit of a state. Can you still help?
Most clients arrive with records that are somewhere between incomplete and organised. We will tell you exactly what information we need and work with what you have. If there are gaps, we will flag them clearly rather than guessing. Catch-up bookkeeping is available separately if your records need more substantial work before the return can be prepared.
Is there a long-term contract, or can I use you just for this year?
No contract. You can use us for a single year’s return and decide afterwards whether to continue. Many clients do come back year after year because the process becomes straightforward once it is set up, but that is entirely your choice. If you move on, your records are yours and we will provide everything you need to hand over to another accountant.
What is the deadline for filing my self assessment, and what happens if I miss it?
The online self assessment deadline is 31 January following the end of the tax year. Miss it and HMRC issues an automatic £100 penalty, with further charges if the delay continues. We aim to have your return prepared and filed well before that date, which also means you have time to arrange payment if a bill is due.
Can you help me plan ahead to reduce next year’s tax bill?
As part of the self assessment process, we look at your payments on account and flag any straightforward planning steps that are relevant to your situation, such as pension contributions, timing of expenses, or reviewing your trading structure if it has changed. More detailed tax planning is available as a separate service if you want to look further ahead.
