Sound familiar?
Not sure what you owe HMRC, or when?
Uber classifies its drivers as self-employed, which puts the responsibility for tax squarely on you. Most drivers find out they owe more than expected because they did not claim the right expenses, or were not aware of payments on account. Sorting it yourself at midnight in January is not the answer.
- Unsure whether to claim mileage or actual vehicle running costs
- Payments on account arriving as a surprise and disrupting cash flow
- No clear view of what you owe until it is nearly too late to act
What sorted looks like
We prepare and file your self assessment from start to finish, making sure every allowable expense is claimed and your tax liability is confirmed well ahead of the deadline. You know the number; HMRC gets the return.
- Mileage, fuel, and vehicle costs reviewed so you claim the right amount
- Payments on account explained and built into your cash planning
- Tax bill confirmed months before January so there are no surprises
- Fixed fee of £150, with everything included and nothing added on

We go through your driving-related costs before filing to make sure nothing is left unclaimed. Phone costs, insurance, servicing, and the mileage versus actual costs decision are all considered, so your tax bill reflects reality rather than a rough estimate.

What makes the difference for self-employed drivers
Three things that matter when you are self-employed and your time is spent driving, not managing paperwork.
We already know how Uber works
Uber income arrives as weekly settlements after the platform takes its cut, and working out your actual earnings from those statements takes more attention than people expect. We are familiar with how gig economy income is reported and how to present it correctly to HMRC, so you will not need to walk us through it.
Fixed price, nothing added later
Your self assessment is £150, and that covers the return, the expense review, and the HMRC submission. There is no hourly rate quietly ticking in the background. If your situation involves something more involved, such as multiple income streams or a prior year to catch up, we will tell you the cost before any work begins.
Entirely online, anywhere in the UK
You do not need to book an office visit or post documents anywhere. Everything is handled remotely. You send your income summary and relevant costs, we take care of the rest, and your return is filed without you needing to take time off a shift.
Up and running in four steps
Most of the work is on our side. You answer a few questions, share your income figures, and we handle everything from there.
Tell us about your situation
Fill in the short quote form or book a call. We will ask about your income, any other employment, and the tax year you need covered. There is no commitment at this stage.
We confirm the fixed fee
Once we understand what is involved, we confirm the price in writing before anything starts. For most Uber drivers the self assessment is £150, all in. If anything changes that, you will know before you proceed.
Share your income and costs
You send us your Uber earnings summary, any other income, and details of your costs. We work with whatever you have, whether that is a spreadsheet, a bank statement, or figures from the Uber driver app.
Filed, confirmed, and done
We prepare the return, confirm your tax liability so you know exactly what to set aside, and file with HMRC. You will have a copy of everything submitted, and the January deadline will not be something you are scrambling toward.
“Professional, efficient, confidence that everything is taken care of.”
Things Uber drivers usually ask us
Do I need to register as self-employed and file a self assessment if I drive for Uber?
Yes. Uber drivers are classed as workers for employment rights purposes, but for tax purposes you are self-employed and responsible for your own income tax and National Insurance. You need to register with HMRC and file a self assessment return each year. If you have not registered yet, we can help you do that as part of the process.
What does the £150 self assessment fee include?
It covers the preparation of your SA100 and SA302, a review of your allowable expenses, advice on payments on account, and submission to HMRC. It applies to a standard self assessment return for a sole trader with straightforward Uber income. If you have multiple income streams, rental income, or prior years to catch up, we will confirm the total cost before starting.
My records are not in great shape. Can you still help?
Yes, and you would not be the first. Most drivers come to us with income from the Uber app, a rough idea of their costs, and not much else organised. We work with what you have, help you reconstruct any missing figures, and make sure the return reflects the correct position. If there is catch-up work involved beyond the standard return, we will quote for that separately.
Am I tied in for a minimum period?
No. We work on a job-by-job basis for one-off services like self assessment. There is no annual contract and no notice period. If you want ongoing bookkeeping or monthly support, those arrangements are agreed separately and clearly before they begin.
Is it better to claim mileage or actual vehicle costs?
It depends on the vehicle, the annual mileage, and whether you use the car exclusively for Uber or also for personal journeys. The HMRC approved mileage rate is 45p per mile for the first 10,000 miles and 25p thereafter. For high-mileage drivers with a newer or more expensive vehicle, actual costs can sometimes work out better. We review both options and recommend the one that reduces your tax bill.
What is a payment on account and do I need to worry about it?
Payments on account are advance payments toward your next year’s tax bill, required when your self assessment liability exceeds £1,000. Many drivers are caught off-guard by this because the January payment includes not just the prior year’s bill but also 50 percent of the following year’s. We explain exactly what you owe and when, so the figure does not come as a surprise when the deadline arrives.
Get your tax return filed properly.
Fixed fee of £150 for most Uber drivers. Qualified accountants, no hidden charges, and your return submitted to HMRC with every expense correctly claimed.
