Sound familiar?
Still not sure what your tax bill is going to be?
A lot of people leave their Self Assessment return until the last few weeks of January, then spend a weekend trying to remember which expenses were allowable and whether they missed any income. The return gets filed, but it is hard to know if it was filed correctly. And if HMRC does come back with a question, there is no one to call.
- Leaving the return until January and rushing to get numbers together in time
- Unsure whether all allowable expenses and reliefs have been claimed
- No clear idea of the tax bill until HMRC sends a calculation
What a properly handled return looks like
We gather your information, prepare the return in full, and tell you what you owe before we file. There are no last-minute surprises and no unanswered questions. The return is right the first time.
- Return prepared well ahead of the deadline, with no January scramble
- All applicable allowances and reliefs identified and claimed correctly
- Your tax liability confirmed before filing, so you know the number in advance
- Fixed fee of £150, with no hidden charges and no hourly billing

What makes this practice different
Three things that matter when you are handing over something as personal as your tax return.
You know your bill before we file
We confirm your tax liability with you before submitting anything to HMRC. If there is something you did not expect, we discuss it first. Nothing goes in without your sign-off and a clear explanation of the numbers.
Qualified accountants, regulated practice
Your return is prepared by qualified accountants. Wings Online Filings is an Authorised Corporate Service Provider registered with Companies House and AML-supervised by HMRC. Professional indemnity insurance is in place.
Plain English, not tax jargon
We explain what each figure means, why it is there, and what it means for your payments on account. By the time your return is filed, you understand it. Which is, frankly, the way it should be.
Up and running in four straightforward steps
The process is handled online and takes very little of your time. Most clients are done and filed within a few working days of sending their information.

Fill in the short form on this page or call us on 020 8089 1876. We confirm the fixed fee of £150 and let you know what information we need. No lengthy onboarding process.
Send Us Your Information
We will tell you exactly what to gather: income figures, expense records, bank statements, or P60s as applicable. You send them across digitally and we take it from there. No need to sort or categorise anything first.
We Prepare and Review With You
We prepare the return in full and send you a summary of the figures for your approval. We explain your tax liability, your payments on account, and answer any questions before filing.
Filed and Confirmed
Once you are happy, we submit the return to HMRC and send you confirmation. Your tax position is clear, the deadline is met, and this year’s return is off your list. Which leaves considerably less to think about.
“Professional, efficient, confidence that everything is taken care of.”
Things people usually ask before getting started
Who actually needs to file a Self Assessment tax return?
You need to file if you are self-employed, a company director receiving dividends or a salary above the PAYE threshold, a landlord with rental income, or an individual with income from savings, investments, or overseas sources. HMRC also requires a return from anyone who earned over £100,000 in the tax year, regardless of whether tax was collected via PAYE. If you are not certain whether you need to file, we can confirm that quickly before you commit to anything.
What does the £150 fixed fee include?
The fee covers preparation of your SA100 personal tax return and SA302 tax calculation, covering all income sources you need to report. It includes identifying and claiming applicable allowances and reliefs, a review of your figures with you before filing, and submission to HMRC with confirmation. There is no extra charge for multiple income sources or for answering questions during the process. More complex returns (for example, those involving capital gains tax on property disposals or EIS/SEIS claims) may carry an additional charge, which we would confirm before starting.
What if my records are incomplete or I have not filed for a previous year?
Incomplete records are not unusual, and they are not a reason to delay. We will tell you exactly what we need and work with what you have. If you have missed a previous year’s return, we can handle that too. Late filing penalties are applied by HMRC on a fixed scale, and getting the return submitted sooner rather than later stops them accumulating. We will let you know what the position is before we start.
Is there a contract or any commitment beyond this year’s return?
No contract and no commitment. The £150 fee covers a single tax year’s return. If you would like us to handle next year’s return as well, you simply come back when the time is right. A number of clients do return each year because it is considerably less effort than doing it themselves, but that is entirely your choice.
What is the deadline for filing and what happens if I miss it?
The online Self Assessment deadline is 31 January following the end of the tax year. Miss it and HMRC applies an automatic £100 penalty, with further daily and percentage-based charges the longer it remains outstanding. We track deadlines for every client we act for, and we will contact you in good time to gather the information we need. If you come to us with a return that is already late, we file it as quickly as possible to stop the penalties increasing further.
Can you advise on reducing my tax bill, not just filing the return?
Yes. As part of the return process we identify allowances, reliefs, and deductible expenses that apply to your situation. For sole traders that includes allowable business costs, the trading income allowance, and pension contributions. For landlords it includes the property finance cost restriction and replacement of domestic items relief. If your situation warrants a broader conversation about tax planning, for example around timing of income or pension contributions, we can discuss that separately.
