Better Strategic Consultancy

Sound familiar?

Still not sure what your tax bill will be this year?

A lot of self-employed people get to October or November and realise they have no real idea what they owe in January. The return looks manageable until it is not, allowances get missed, and the deadline has a way of arriving faster than expected. None of this is unavoidable. It is just what happens when tax sits at the bottom of the to-do list.

  • Unsure whether you have claimed all the allowances you are entitled to
  • The January deadline approaching with the return still not started
  • No clear picture of what you owe until the bill actually arrives

What having it handled looks like

We take the return off your plate entirely. You send us your income and expenses, we prepare the SA100 and SA302, claim everything you are entitled to, and submit to HMRC. You find out what you owe in plain terms, well before the deadline.

  • Every applicable allowance and relief checked and claimed as standard
  • Return prepared and filed with time to spare before January
  • Your tax position explained clearly, so the bill is never a surprise
  • Fixed fee of £150 per return, published upfront with no add-ons

Being new to everything, it can feel incredibly overwhelming, but Prad makes the whole process straightforward and stress-free. His knowledge of UK accounting and HM Revenue & Customs is second to none, and he always takes the time to explain things clearly rather than leaving me confused.

Why Wings Online Filings

What makes the difference for self-employed clients

Qualified accountants, fixed prices, and advice in plain English. These are the things that actually matter when you are running your own business.

💷

Fixed Fee, No Surprises

Your self assessment is £150. That is the figure before we start, not after. There are no additional charges for multiple income sources, rental income, or payments-on-account calculations. If your situation is more complex, we will tell you upfront before any work begins.

📋

Your Numbers Explained Clearly

Filing the return is the easy part. Understanding what drove the bill, and what you could do differently next year, is where it gets useful. We walk through the figures with you in plain terms so you leave the conversation actually knowing where you stand.

🔒

Qualified, Regulated, and Covered

The work is done by qualified accountants. Wings Online Filings is an Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP) registered with Companies House, AML-supervised by HMRC, and covered by professional indemnity insurance. Your filings are in the hands of a practice that is properly accountable.

Getting started

Up and running in four straightforward steps

Most clients are set up and have their return underway within a few days of first getting in touch. You do not need to have everything in order before you contact us.

1

Send Us a Quote Request

Fill in the short form on this page or call us directly. We will confirm the fixed fee and what we need from you, usually in the same working day. No commitment required at this stage.

2

Share Your Income and Expenses

We will ask for the records we need: employment income, self-employed income, expenses, and any other relevant sources. You can send these by email or upload them digitally. We handle clients whose records range from meticulous to approximate, and we will tell you exactly what is needed.

3

We Prepare and Check the Return

Your qualified accountant prepares the SA100 and SA302, checks that all eligible allowances and reliefs have been applied, and prepares a clear summary of what you owe. You review and approve before anything is submitted.

4

Filed, and You Know Where You Stand

The return is submitted to HMRC. You receive confirmation, a plain-English breakdown of your tax position, and an explanation of any payments on account due in July. Your tax is done for the year, and you know the figures well before January.

Questions

Things self-employed clients usually ask

I have income from several sources: freelance work, a part-time job, and some rental income. Can you handle all of that in one return?+

Yes. The £150 fixed fee covers self assessment returns with multiple income sources, including employment income, self-employed or freelance income, property income, and dividends. We will tell you upfront if anything in your situation falls outside that scope, which is uncommon for most sole traders and freelancers.

What does the £150 cover, and are there any costs on top of that?+

The £150 covers preparation of your SA100 and SA302, claiming all applicable allowances and reliefs, submission to HMRC, and a plain-English summary of your tax position including payments on account. There are no additional fees for the standard self assessment service. If you have an unusually complex situation, we will flag any additional cost before starting work.

My records are not in great shape. Do I need to sort them out before I come to you?+

No. We work with clients at all stages of organisation, from well-kept spreadsheets through to receipts in a folder and a rough summary in their head. We will tell you exactly what we need and help you pull it together. If there is catch-up bookkeeping required before the return can be prepared, we will quote for that separately and agree it with you first.

Is there a contract or a minimum term I need to sign up to?+

No long-term contract is required. The self assessment service is a fixed one-off fee per return, so you are not committed to anything beyond the work you have asked us to do. Many clients return each year, but that is their choice, not an obligation.

I have been filing my own return for a few years. Is it worth switching to an accountant?+

It depends on your situation, but for most self-employed people the answer is that the fee pays for itself in missed allowances alone. Common areas where DIY returns leave money on the table include home office costs, use-of-home expenses, mileage, professional subscriptions, and timing of capital expenditure. We will let you know at the point of review if we find anything that should have been claimed previously.

Can you help me reduce my tax bill, not just file the return?+

Yes. Alongside the return itself, we review your current structure and flag any practical steps that could reduce your liability going forward. That might be timing income and expenses more efficiently, ensuring you are on the right basis period, or considering whether incorporation makes sense at your current profit level. We will only raise options that are genuinely relevant to your situation.
