Sound familiar?
CIS compliance taking up time you do not have?
Running a construction business is demanding enough without also tracking which deduction rate applies to each subcontractor, chasing monthly HMRC submission deadlines, and producing statements whenever a subbie asks for one. Get any of it wrong and HMRC will not be forgiving. Most contractors either muddle through or let it slide until a penalty notice arrives.
- Not confident which deduction rate applies to each subcontractor on site
- Monthly CIS returns going in late, or not at all, because they slip
- No proper records to show subcontractors or HMRC if they ever ask
What sorted looks like
When your CIS payroll is properly managed, deductions are correct from the start, returns go in on time every month, and your subcontractors have their statements without having to chase you for them.
- Every subcontractor verified with HMRC and assigned the right deduction rate
- Monthly CIS returns filed on time, every time, no deadline missed
- Subcontractor deduction statements issued accurately and kept on file
- Transparent, quote-based pricing agreed upfront so there are no surprises

What our CIS payroll service covers
From verifying subcontractors to filing monthly returns and issuing statements, the whole process is managed for you so nothing falls between the cracks.
Subcontractor Verification and Deduction Rates
Before paying any subcontractor, we verify their status with HMRC and confirm whether the standard 20% or higher 30% deduction applies. This means every payment is calculated correctly from the outset, and you are not exposed to liability for applying the wrong rate.
Included as standardMonthly CIS Returns to HMRC
We prepare and submit your monthly CIS return to HMRC by the 19th of each month, covering every subcontractor payment made in the previous tax month. You do not need to track the deadlines yourself. We remind you, gather what we need, and file on time.
Filed every monthSubcontractor Deduction Statements
Every subcontractor you pay under CIS is entitled to a monthly deduction statement showing what was deducted and why. We produce and issue these statements accurately, so your subbies have what they need for their own tax returns and there are no disputes over the figures.

What makes working with us different
There are plenty of accountants who will file a CIS return. Fewer who will explain what they are filing and why, keep your records clean throughout the year, and be reachable when something comes up.
CIS Handled Without Chasing You
We manage the monthly CIS cycle proactively. You receive a brief request for the information we need each month, we do the rest, and you get confirmation once it is filed. Construction businesses running multiple subcontractors find this particularly useful because there is no admin burden on your end between jobs.
ACSP-Registered, Qualified Accountants
Wings Online Filings is an Authorised Corporate Service Provider registered with Companies House and supervised by HMRC for anti-money laundering purposes. Our team of qualified accountants handles CIS alongside the wider payroll, bookkeeping, and tax picture, so nothing sits in a silo and nothing gets missed.
Plain Explanations, Not Just Filings
CIS deductions, offset rules, and gross payment status applications all come with questions. We explain the rules in plain terms so you understand what is happening and why, rather than just receiving a confirmation email once a month. If HMRC writes to you about CIS, we deal with it directly.
Up and running in four steps
Most contractors are fully set up within a week of getting in touch. You do not need to have everything in order before you start.
Request a Quote
Fill in the quote form or call us directly on 020 8089 1876. Tell us how many subcontractors you pay and roughly how often. We will come back to you the same day with a clear, fixed monthly quote and no obligation to proceed.
We Get Up to Speed
Once you are ready to go, we gather details on your registered subcontractors and any CIS history we need to pick up from. If previous returns are outstanding or records are incomplete, we will tell you honestly what catch-up work is involved and what it costs.
We Manage the Monthly Cycle
Each month, we contact you for that month’s payment details, verify any new subcontractors, prepare the return, and submit to HMRC by the deadline. Deduction statements go out to your subcontractors at the same time. You approve and confirm. That is about as far as your involvement goes.
Your CIS Is Off Your Plate
Monthly returns filed, statements issued, records maintained, and HMRC kept informed. Your subcontractors have what they need for their own tax returns, and you have a clear paper trail if HMRC ever asks a question. Which is, frankly, the way it should be.
“Professional, efficient, confidence that everything is taken care of.”
What contractors usually ask us
Do you handle CIS for both contractors and subcontractors?
Yes. We work with contractors who need to deduct and remit CIS tax from subcontractor payments, and we also help subcontractors reclaim CIS deductions through their self assessment or corporation tax return. If you sit on both sides of the scheme at different points, we can manage both positions. We also assist with applications for gross payment status if your business qualifies.
How much does CIS payroll cost and what is included?
CIS payroll is priced on a quote basis, because the monthly workload depends on how many subcontractors you pay and how regularly. When you request a quote, we will ask a few straightforward questions and come back with a clear monthly figure. The fee covers subcontractor verification, preparation and submission of the monthly return, and issuing deduction statements. There are no hidden extras for standard monthly work.
We have missed a few CIS return deadlines. Can you take that on mid-year?
We can. We take on contractors with outstanding returns regularly. Before quoting, we will assess what catch-up work is needed, how far back the gaps go, and whether HMRC has already issued penalty notices. We will be honest with you about what is involved and what it costs. Once we are up to date, the monthly process runs cleanly from there.
Is there a long-term contract or minimum commitment?
No long-term contract. CIS payroll is a rolling monthly arrangement and either party can end it with a month’s notice. If you decide to bring payroll in-house or use a different provider, we will make sure your records are complete and properly handed over. Nothing is held back.
What happens if HMRC queries our CIS returns or sends a compliance check?
We handle HMRC correspondence on your behalf. If HMRC writes about a CIS return we have filed, we respond directly and deal with any questions or amendments needed. We keep a clear record of every submission, so there is always a reliable paper trail to refer back to.
Can subcontractors offset CIS deductions against their own tax bill?
Yes. CIS deductions are not a final tax. Subcontractors can offset the amounts deducted against their income tax or corporation tax liability when they file their annual return. We handle self assessment and corporation tax returns for subcontractors too, so if your subbies need help reclaiming deductions, we can assist with that as a separate service.
