Sound familiar?

Still not sure what your tax bill is going to be?

Most people who do their own self assessment spend a good part of January working out what they owe, hoping they have not missed anything, and filing at the last moment. The 31 January deadline does not move, and the penalties for missing it start at £100 on day one. Beyond the deadline, there is also the question of whether the return was correct in the first place.

  • Filing at the last minute without knowing if the figures are right
  • Unsure which income sources to include or which allowances apply
  • No visibility on payments on account, so the July bill comes as a surprise

What a properly prepared return looks like

Your return is prepared by a qualified accountant who checks every figure, claims what you are entitled to, and submits on time. You know your tax liability before HMRC contacts you, not after.

  • Return prepared, reviewed, and filed well ahead of the January deadline
  • All income sources reviewed and all applicable allowances correctly claimed
  • Payments on account explained so July holds no surprises
  • Fixed one-off fee of £150, with no hidden costs and no annual contract

Why Wings Online Filings

What makes the difference in practice

There are a lot of accountants who will file your return. These are the things that clients notice once they have worked with us.

📋

Your tax position explained, not just filed

We do not just submit the numbers. We explain what your return shows, what you owe and why, and what you can expect to pay in future. For many clients, this is the first time they have genuinely understood their self assessment position. Which is, frankly, the way it should be.

🔒

Qualified accountants, fixed and transparent pricing

Your return is handled by a qualified accountant, not passed to a junior or processed automatically. The fee is £150, fixed, and covers everything described on this page. There are no add-ons for multiple income sources or extra correspondence with HMRC.

📅

Filed well before the deadline, not on it

We work to get returns prepared and submitted with time to spare, so you know your liability early and can plan accordingly. The January scramble is largely avoidable when the process starts in good time. We will let you know what we need and when.

Getting started

Up and running in four straightforward steps

Most clients are surprised by how little they need to do. We handle the bulk of the work once you have sent us the basics.

1

Get in touch for a quote

Fill in the short form on this page or give us a call. We will confirm the fixed fee and let you know exactly what information we need from you. There is no commitment at this stage.

2

Send us your documents

We will tell you specifically what to send: P60s, P11Ds, rental income summaries, bank interest statements, or anything else relevant to your situation. Everything is shared securely online, no printing or posting required.

3

We prepare and review the return

A qualified accountant prepares your SA100 and SA302, checks the figures, applies your allowances and reliefs, and sends the draft to you for approval. We explain anything that needs clarification before you sign off.

4

Filed and confirmed, job done

Once you approve, we submit directly to HMRC and send you confirmation. You know what you owe, when it is due, and what to expect in the months ahead. Considerably less to think about than before you got in touch.

Questions

Things clients usually ask before getting started

I have income from several different sources. Is that still covered by the £150 fee?+

Yes. The fixed fee of £150 covers self assessment returns with multiple income sources, including employment income, self-employment profits, rental income, dividends, savings interest, and capital gains where they apply. If your situation is more complex, for example if you have overseas income or HMRC is querying a previous return, we will tell you before starting and agree any additional cost with you upfront. There are no surprises.

What exactly is included in the £150 fee?+

The fee covers preparation of your SA100 personal tax return and SA302 tax calculation, review of all applicable allowances and reliefs, a clear explanation of your liability and payments on account, and submission directly to HMRC. You will also receive confirmation once the return has been accepted. The fee does not cover ongoing bookkeeping or VAT, but those can be quoted separately if needed.

My records are a bit disorganised. Does that cause a problem?+

Not necessarily. We work with clients who arrive with records in varying states of order, and we can help you identify what is missing and how to pull it together. If there is a significant amount of catch-up work required, we will tell you what is involved and whether there is any additional cost before we start. Most clients find it is more straightforward than they expected.

Do I have to commit to an ongoing service?+

No. The self assessment service is a one-off fixed fee with no annual contract. If you want us to handle your return year after year, that is a straightforward conversation each time. If you only need this year’s return sorted, that is fine too. You are not locked in to anything.

I have missed a filing deadline. Is it too late to use you?+

No, it is not too late. Late filing penalties start at £100 on the day after the deadline and increase the longer the return remains outstanding, so it is worth getting it submitted as soon as possible. We can prepare and file late returns and can also help you understand the penalties already incurred. If you have a reasonable excuse, we can advise on whether it is worth putting that to HMRC.

Can you advise on reducing my tax bill, or is it just a filing service?+

Both. We prepare and file the return, and as part of that we check that all allowances and reliefs have been applied correctly. If there are planning points worth discussing, such as pension contributions, timing of income, or the structure of a side income, we will flag them when reviewing your figures. Tax planning is a separate advisory service for more involved situations, but straightforward points are included in the conversation as a matter of course.
