Sound familiar?
The deadline is closer than you would like.
Most people who need an urgent tax return have not left it late on purpose. Life gets in the way, records pile up, and suddenly the filing window is narrow. The risk is no longer abstract. HMRC issues an automatic £100 penalty the day after the deadline, and that figure rises the longer the return stays unfiled. The question at this point is not whether to act, but whether there is still time to act properly.
- Deadline days away and the return has not been started
- Automatic £100 HMRC penalty already in play or approaching fast
- Not sure what records are needed or how quickly a return can be completed
What a fast, clean filing looks like
We handle urgent self assessment returns remotely for sole traders, company directors, landlords, and individuals across the UK. Once you send through what you have, we take it from there, work through the figures, and file directly with HMRC.
- Return submitted to HMRC before the deadline, with confirmation sent to you
- Penalty exposure reviewed upfront so you know exactly where you stand
- Clear list of what is needed sent to you immediately, so nothing holds up the work
- Fixed quote agreed before we start, with no unexpected charges at the end

What makes this different from filing it yourself
There are three things that matter when a deadline is close: speed, accuracy, and knowing your full tax position. Here is how we approach each one.
We move as quickly as you need
Once you send through your records, we start immediately. There is no onboarding delay or waiting list for urgent work. The turnaround depends on the complexity of your return, but we will give you a realistic timeline before we begin, not after.
Your tax bill is correct, not just filed
Filing quickly is only useful if the figures are right. Our qualified accountants check your income sources, apply the correct reliefs and allowances, and review the return before submission. A fast but incorrect return can create more HMRC correspondence, not less.
You know what is happening throughout
We work entirely online and communicate clearly at each stage. You will know when the return is in progress, when it is ready to review, and when it has been submitted. Questions get answered promptly, including on the specifics of your tax liability.
Up and running in four straightforward steps
The process is designed to be quick on your side. Most of the work happens on ours.
Send Us a Quote Request
Fill in the short form on this page with the basics: who needs the return filed, what income sources are involved, and how close the deadline is. We will come back to you with a fixed price and a realistic timeline.
Share Your Records
We send you a simple checklist of what we need. For most returns this means income figures, any expenses you want to claim, and your HMRC Government Gateway details. Everything is shared securely online.
We Prepare the Return
Our qualified accountants work through the figures, apply the correct reliefs and allowances, and prepare a summary for you to review. You will see the tax calculation before we submit anything.
Return Filed, Deadline Met
Once you approve the figures, we submit directly to HMRC and send you the confirmation. You know your tax bill, you know the deadline is met, and the return is done properly. That is the end of it.
“Professional, efficient, confidence that everything is taken care of.”
A few things people usually ask us first
How quickly can you actually file a self assessment return?
It depends on how straightforward your return is and how quickly you can send through the records. For a standard sole trader or director return with clear income and expense figures, we can typically turn the work around in a few business days. Returns involving multiple income sources, property income, or capital gains take a little longer. We will give you a clear timeline at the quoting stage, before you commit to anything.
What does the urgent return service cost?
Pricing depends on the complexity of your return. A standard self assessment with a single income source starts from £150. Returns with multiple sources, rental income, or capital gains disposals are quoted individually. We agree the price in full before starting, so there are no surprises when the work is done. If you have seen a like-for-like quote elsewhere, we are happy to discuss it.
My records are in a bit of a mess. Can you still help?
Yes. We work with incomplete or disorganised records regularly. Once you tell us what you have, we will let you know what else is needed and what can be estimated or reconstructed from bank statements. If there is a gap that affects the accuracy of the return, we will flag it to you clearly rather than file something that might attract HMRC queries later.
Do I have to commit to anything beyond this one return?
No. There is no minimum term or ongoing contract attached to an urgent return. We complete the work, file the return, and that is the end of the engagement if you prefer it that way. A number of clients do go on to use us for their bookkeeping, VAT, or future returns, but that is entirely up to you.
The deadline has already passed. Is it still worth filing now?
Yes, and as quickly as possible. HMRC’s automatic £100 penalty applies from the day after the 31 January deadline. After three months, a further £10 per day charge applies (up to 90 days). After six and twelve months, additional percentage-based penalties kick in. Filing late is significantly better than not filing at all, and if you had a genuine reason for missing the deadline, we can advise on whether a reasonable excuse appeal has any basis.
Can you tell me whether I can reduce the tax I owe?
We check all available allowances and reliefs as part of preparing the return, including the trading income allowance, property allowances, pension contributions, gift aid, and allowable expenses. If there is something that can legitimately reduce your bill, we will include it. We do not file and move on without checking, because a few minutes of review at this stage can save a meaningful amount.
