Sound familiar?
Growing fast, but flying blind on the numbers?
At a certain point, monthly bookkeeping and a year-end tax return stop being enough. You need to know your cash position next quarter, not just last year. Board meetings happen without reliable management information. Funding conversations stall because the financials are not investor-ready. Hiring a full-time CFO is not the right move yet, but doing without one is costing you in ways that are harder to see.
- No reliable cash flow forecast, so funding decisions are made on gut feel
- Board or investor meetings approached without a prepared financial pack
- Senior financial input needed, but a full-time CFO hire is not justified yet
What having a fractional CFO looks like
You get a qualified accountant working at a strategic level, not just processing transactions. Management accounts go out on time, the forecast is maintained, and financial decisions are made with a clear picture in front of you.
- A rolling cash flow forecast updated each month, so you know where you stand
- Board-ready management accounts and financial packs prepared before every meeting
- Senior finance input available as your business grows, without a permanent headcount
- Transparent, quote-based pricing scoped to the level of support your business actually needs
What clients say about working with us
Business owners across the UK have found the support they needed, without having to explain their industry from scratch or chase for answers.
Working with Wings Online Filings Ltd has been an absolute pleasure. They are highly communicative, supportive, and provide a responsive, cost-effective service that perfectly suits my small architecture practice. I switched from another accountant about a year ago and haven’t looked back since. Their expertise, efficiency, and positive ‘can-do’ attitude make them stand out, and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone seeking a new accountant.
I was recently recommended this company by a friend. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Prads in particular and have been very impressed with the depth of his knowledge and professionalism. What turned out to be initially a small one off audit appears to be evolving to a long-term relationship and I have great confidence in this company delivering services reliably and promptly.

What makes this different from a standard accountant
A fractional CFO arrangement only works if the person providing it understands your numbers and tells you what matters. Here is what you can expect.
Numbers explained, not just filed
The management accounts are not sent and left for you to interpret. Each pack comes with clear commentary on what the figures mean and what you should be paying attention to. Business owners routinely say this is the first time they have felt genuinely informed about their own finances.
Qualified and properly regulated
Wings Online Filings is an Authorised Corporate Service Provider registered with Companies House and AML-supervised by HMRC. The firm holds professional indemnity insurance and works to the same standards as a permanent finance hire. Your financial information is handled with the same rigour.
A long-term working relationship
Fractional CFO support is not a one-off project. It works because the same person stays involved, learns your business, and gives consistent input over time. The scope is reviewed regularly so it keeps pace with where your business actually is, not where it was when you first signed up.
Up and running in four steps
Most clients are set up within a week. There is no long onboarding process and nothing complicated on your end to begin with.
Tell Us About Your Business
Fill in the quote form or book a call. We will ask about your current finance function, what you need help with, and where the gaps are. This takes fifteen minutes at most.
Receive a Scoped Proposal
We put together a clear proposal covering what is included, the monthly or quarterly cadence, and the cost. No vague retainer descriptions. You will know exactly what you are getting before committing.
We Access Your Books and Begin
Once agreed, we connect to your accounting software and review your current financial position. If the books need tidying before we can produce useful management accounts, we will handle that as part of onboarding.
Financial clarity, every month
From the first reporting period onwards, you receive up-to-date management accounts, a maintained forecast, and a qualified accountant available to answer questions. You go into board meetings and commercial decisions with the numbers already prepared.
“Professional, efficient, confidence that everything is taken care of.”
Things people usually ask before getting started
How is a fractional CFO different from our existing accountant?
Most accountants handle compliance: bookkeeping, VAT, payroll, year-end accounts, and tax returns. A fractional CFO operates at a strategic level above that, producing management accounts, maintaining a cash flow forecast, and providing input on financial decisions before they are made. The two roles work alongside each other rather than replacing one another.
How much does fractional CFO support cost?
Pricing is quote-based because the right scope varies significantly from one business to the next. A business needing monthly management accounts and a quarterly board pack will pay less than one preparing for a fundraising round with complex modelling requirements. We provide a clear, itemised proposal before any commitment is made so you know exactly what you are paying for.
Our books are not in great shape. Can you still help?
Yes. Messy or incomplete records are a common starting point. We will review what is there, identify what needs correcting, and bring things up to a standard where useful management information can actually be produced. Catch-up work is scoped separately so you are not paying ongoing CFO fees for historical tidying.
Is there a long-term contract?
No. Engagements are typically agreed on a rolling monthly or quarterly basis. If your needs change, the arrangement changes with them. If you decide to wind down the support or bring the role in-house, there is no penalty and you leave with up-to-date, well-organised financial records.
Can you support us through a funding round or investor due diligence?
Yes. Investor-ready financial reporting, three-year financial models, and EIS or SEIS advance assurance support all fall within the scope of what we can provide. If a specific deliverable is needed for a funding round, we will scope that clearly rather than bundling it into a retainer.
Will we get proactive advice, or just reports after the fact?
The management accounts and forecast are prepared in advance of your board meetings or decision points, not sent once the month is already over. Where we see something worth flagging, such as a cash position tightening or a tax liability building earlier than expected, we raise it rather than wait to be asked.
